Its fantastic living way down south... its so very rarely cold like the rest of the country... Yes.. we say its cold.. but really.. if truth were told.. it isn't... but it is almost always damp and wet.... today... we had the first snow in goodness knows how long... Cornwall got it REAL bad.. which is very unusual. Plymouth.. were I live.. situated between Dartmoor National Park and the approaches to the English Channel rarely gets snow.. or what I would call proper snow... theres rarely inches and inches of it.. and any flurry of snow that is brave enough to venture down South from the Moors causes great pandemonium and excitement.
Today was no different.... I'm pretty sure it snowed all morning... it didn't really settle properly but the outskirts of the City were getting it so bad that the City Engineers Department went into panic stations... children were sent home from school... Government Agencies closed down... staff were sent home and it all meant utter chaos and gridlock on any major road out of Plymouth.. (those that aren't already on permanent gridlock by what seems to be an everlasting round of roadworks) It was crazy... when I reached my car this afternoon I must have had about 2cm of snow accumulation on the roof.... ARGHHHHHHHH get the snow ploughs out.... Ridiculous.... Barbie on the other hand had a different story to tell.... Her house it out on the far noth edge of the city... she can see Cornwall and almost sniff the pony poop from Dartmoor.... When she got home she phoned to tell me that it looked like a scene off a Christmas Card... Did she take any photos??? Nope..... But I did.... putting them up in the First Snow album.... |
I wished for snow for my birthday. But we're not going to get it. Maybe around Christmas. But probably not until January or February. If at all.
